This is the first time I came to Indie web club. Fun times. To answer the questions:

  1. Systems I built for myself:
    • Along with a knife my first aid box also lives on a table right next to my door. 
    • I added a magnetic whiteboard sheet thing to my fridge to keep track of all the food inside the fridge. Every night when I’m keeping the day’s food in the fridge update the sheet with the food and the date (sometimes it doesn’t work ofc)
  2. Explaining TWM to who don’t know or enjoy them:
    • When you’re trying to display multiple windows on a screen -> take the system connected to the projector as an example. You don’t have to drag/resize each of the open windows to make sure each of them are visible. You open a window and it just snaps to a side (based on the rules you’ve created)
    • For those who like it a slight tangent; I hate every single TWM on wayland, I miss XMonad a lot. I want to create my own XMonad-esque just works TWM whenever I get some time
  3. Stories around this day (Indian Independence day):
    • My history teacher in 8th grade told us the following, which AFAIK weren’t there in the history books (and might be a conspiracy theory)
    • August 15th was selected because it was the 2nd anniversary of Japanese Surrender to Mountbatten (I refuse to add the sir), and it was moved from June 1948 just for this reason.
    • There was no official anthem yet
    • Potential conspiracy theory: Jana Gana Mana was originally written as an ode to the Queen of England and in later the meaning disseminated to the public, it was made to seem like the song was an ode to the People of India instead. (she was super pissed about it)
  4. Since it’s my first time here this is my first weeknote:
    • I think I finally cracked the Moka Pot coffee recipe. 
    • Found that using mineral water instead of regular water has a drastic change in how the coffee tastes so now I’m looking into how to make mineral water at home
    • I worked with uv for the first time today -> All I can say is uv is extremely overrated.
